Canine Companions for Independence of Medford has named one of its "service dogs in training," in honor of Congressman Tim Bishop for his support of the organization's Wounded Veteran Initiative.
"Bishop" is a lab-golden cross specially bred through Canine Companions for Independence's breeding program to hopefully someday become an assistance dog for a person with a physical disability. He is being raised by a repeat puppy raiser on Long Island. He will be with the puppy raiser until February 2014.
"I am proud to support Canine Companions for Independence and especially their work to make life easier for our wounded veterans when they return home," said Congressman Bishop. "I am honored that this adorable puppy named for me is being trained for a life of service and companionship that will benefit a member of our community."
