Jerry Avellino, Village Chief Code Enforcement Officer, Passes Away

Services are being held Thursday.

Jerry Avellino, the chief code enforcement officer for Patchogue Village, has passed away.

His passing was announced on a Friday post on Patchogue Village's Facebook Page, and his daughter Lauren thanked the community for their outpouring of condolences on the post.

"My father was truly a one of a kind man, words cannot express the pain," she wrote. "But I am honored to be his daughter and overwhelmed by the love and support I have received from everyone."

Several residents have been writing in that they also know Avellino from his security work at Patchogue-Medford Library.

Services for Avellino will be held at Robertaccio's Funeral Home, 85 Medford Ave. in Patchogue, on Thursday 2 p.m.-4 p.m. and 7 p.m.-9 p.m., the village Facebook Page posted Saturday. Mass for him will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at the St. Joseph the Worker RC Church, 510 Narrangansett Ave. in East Patchogue.
