Report: Three Patchogue Men Face Crab Poaching Charges

Three Patchogue men are facing charges relating to allegedly poaching more than 100,000 horseshoe crabs, according to authorities cited in a News 12 report.

According to the report, officers from the Department of Environmental Conservation report recently seeing a skiff (small boat) with no navigation lights on in the Great South Bay. When the officers stopped the boat, they noticed a number of crabs on board. Officers say another vessel that did not have the proper permits was found later by the DEC crew.

The bayman of the boat reportedly had no license, according to authorities in the report. The men were arrested in June on the Great South Bay.
